I guess I haven’t quite mastered the art of scheduling blog posts weeks or months out, because when business or life gets a little crazy, the Blog is what goes silent until I’m back on track with everything else. So, this “Weekend Recap” is more for the last couple of weeks too. I mean how can I schedule a post that sounds like my little world is all rosey sunshine when we are a house full of sickies? Yeah, you too? It seems like the flu is making its rounds and our little one had it BAD. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than when your babies are sick and this time we were unfortunate enough to be sick in bed with him too. Ugh…life lesson…don’t skip the flu shot. Thankful that we caught it when we did and recovered before this past weekend, because Saturday was THE BIG DAY.
Saturday was the day of the #springhassprung styled shoot I’ve been working on for months and with some of the absolute BEST WEDDING VENDORS across Maryland, DC and Virginia. On top of that, I invited 6 other photographers to attend. So, to say there was a lot of pressure for me (and my family) to feel better and things run smoothly, is an understatement.
I arrived at Flora Corner Farm in Mechanicsville, Maryland and Brit from Ruie & Grace was already working hard to get things setup. From an elaborate head table with hanging centerpiece, a tea cup display that would make any little girl at heart swoon and details galore, Brit, along with Lindsey of Honey Dew Vintage, had made all these crazy, beautiful wedding details a reality. Then it was time for me to stop staring in amazement and get to work myself. Before we knew it, the other photographers had arrived, the models were dressed and the alpacas and baby goats were ready for their close up! Say what? Yes, I said (or typed) ALPACAS and BABY GOATS!
For anyone that hasn’t organized a styled shoot before or for the brides reading this, this is an opportunity for wedding photographers and vendors to collaborate and showcase their talents in a way that can be inspiring to brides and vendors alike. That night, I came home from the shoot with my creative heart full and those same butterflies brides experience when their head hits the pillow on their wedding night when they reflect and realize the fairy tale wedding they dreamed about REALLY JUST HAPPENED. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Breathtaking.
So, while I work on editing my images from this event, I’ve shared a few behind the scenes and cell phone images taken from me, Kristyn and Mary’s Go Round. You can also check out Instagram using #springhassprung to see more from the vendors and guest photographers. Of course, feel free to share your images in the comments section here too!
