When you find your Prince Charming, your wedding day is one of the most amazing days of your life, but during our consult I learned that this day would prove to be bittersweet for the couple. Over dinner, we talked about their plans for their Southern Maryland wedding, her love for cats, his new found love for her dog like cat. As the discussion turned to the topic of family, I sat across the table from Shannon and Tony and watched him comfort her as the tears filled her eyes explaining that her dad wouldn’t be walking her down the aisle as he had passed away. That evening, I witnessed just how much they adored each other, leaned on one another and truly were best friends.
It felt like it rained every day leading up to their wedding, and the outlook of a dreary forecast had me nervous. Shannon and Tony deserved to have the outdoor ceremony they dreamed of at Flora Corner Farm, and their dedication did not go unnoticed as they came ready with leaf blowers to blow dry the ceremony grounds. I have to say that was the first time I had ever seen that, but man how beautiful it all turned out, clouds, sunshine and all!
Their unique brunch wedding included delicate details of love birds with purple and silver décor and a delicious made-to-order omelette bar! It was romantic and classy and in every direction you turned there was beauty. However, the most beautiful part of the day was witnessing how family and friends were there for BOTH the bride and groom. It wasn’t his family or her friends. It was THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. During the reception, this became even more apparent as Tony began to dance with his mom and Shannon watched on trying to hold her composure. Moments later, Tony’s dad took Shannon’s hand and led her onto the dance floor. Like most of the guests, I found myself a complete mess crying behind my camera.
That afternoon two incredible people promised forever and the hearts of so many other people were touched. THAT is a powerful kind of love.
Shannon and Tony – Congratulations to you both from the bottom of my heart! You deserve a lifetime of happiness!
