No two loves stories are the same. I say this all the time and it is the honest truth. For anyone that thinks that your love story has to happen in a certain order for it to be “the right way” or “true love”…well, you’re wrong. What if I told you that the boy you dated in high school may not have been the right one for you THEN, but years later you’d fall back in love and have 4 beautiful children together. Timing is everything when it comes to love and that is exactly how Lindsey and Randy’s love story goes. After fourteen years together, they decided to exchange vows in a backyard wedding right in Southern Maryland.
Lindsey and Randy, with the help of amazing family and friends, made everything from the welcome signs, bouquets, cookies and an outdoor wash table. Randy even used old logs from the family’s property to work as plant stands and line the aisles with flower planters, giving pops of red color. I don’t know how they even did it all, and I definitely got emotional seeing the beautiful transformation they did with the mother of the bride’s backyard. It was all things Southern. It was welcoming and cozy and it was beautiful! This day was a long, LONG time coming and it was so obvious how much love surrounded them from all the people helping put together the finishing touches.
Lindsey walked down the aisle, arm to arm with her step father and then her dad officiated the ceremony. During his speech, he shared personal stories of Lindsey and Randy and how they both agreed that the love they know now makes their younger love nothing in comparison. Life, the good and the bad, the challenges they have faced, have made them stronger and their love that much more monumental compared to fourteen years ago. These two have already been living the life as husband and wife, raising four amazingly sweet and beautiful children, and this day, to me, was to make it official and to celebrate that even knowing marriage isn’t always easy, when it’s with the right person, it’s worth all that may come your way.
On this day, and hopefully with these photographs, their little ones will remember all the hard work that Mommy and Daddy put into making their backyard wedding day perfect and not just with all the cute DIY decorations, but the hard work and effort to make each other happy every single day. Their four children were witness to something beautiful and powerful, with a lesson in life that can’t be found in a book. This is THEIR love story.
