I pulled up to the beautiful colonial home in Reston, and the front porch was filled with excitement as family waited for the bridal party to get ready. The front door opened and this beautiful blonde, with a radiant smile, welcomed me into the home. On her wedding day, I was meeting the bride for the first time and she was meeting me, her photographer.
It didn’t take long for me to see the kind of daughter, sister and friend this woman was to all those in the home. There wasn’t a single person or detail to her day that held more significance to her. They were all so very very special to her. Caitlin exudes this energy that makes everyone want to listen to every word, laugh at all the silliness and love her wholeheartedly. She is the sweet little sister we all wish we had and the women we would love to see our brother’s marry.
The bridesmaids watched as Caitlin opened a book of memories they had all worked together to make. As she turned the page, I learned that Shaun, her soon to be husband, was just as thoughtful and sweet as she was and deserved. You see, Caitlin had planned to wear her grandmother pearls for the wedding but they broke. So, Shaun had written her a note and explained how he borrowed his own grandmother’s pearls for Caitlin. Even on their wedding day, he swept her off her feet.
Caitlin and Shaun’s wedding ceremony took place at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston, Virginia with a full mass service. As loved ones spoke and sang hymns, and the priest emphasized all that goes into loving one another forever, these two exchanged smiles and squeezed each others’ hands lovingly.
Since Caitlin and Shaun planned their Virginia wedding all the way from Pennsylvania, they put so much trust into their wedding vendors to bring to life their ideas of a relaxed, yet sophisticated wedding reception at Rust Manor House in Leesburg, Virginia. During cocktail hour, wedding guests were treated to passed appetizers while they played lawn games. The reception tent was something out of a dream. Farmhouse tables were setup to enjoy dinner family style and decorated with lace and vine runners, with bold pops of color from candles, flowers and glass goblets.
