As a bride, one of the exciting things on your wedding planning to do list is having engagement photographs taken. Then, you start going through your closest and now you’ve just added 15 piles of clean laundry to the floor. Okay, so maybe picking out the perfect wardrobe isn’t as easy as you initially thought. Ladies, I’m here to give you some tips to get you back on track to making this part of the planning fun! Yay for new clothes, right!
It’s time to go shopping, but first let me offer a few tips. The first step is deciding the style. What look are you wanting for your photographs: edgy, preppy, country, romantic, casual or glamorous? I always tell my clients that you should pick two outfits for your engagement session and if you want to have more variety in your gallery, have each outfit a different style.
Pick 1-2 main colors for each outfit grouping. Avoid both of you wearing a shirt in the EXACT SAME COLOR. Shades of primary colors are a great place to start and have fun by using different tones or patterns that incorporate the colors. Nowadays, it’s great to show your personality and individuality in your photos. The idea is to look coordinated, but not all matchy match. Avoid logos and text, but different small patterns look amazing!
Details, details, details. One thing you want to remember is that details go a long way in a photo session. So, add layers and pay attention even to hair accessories, hats, belts, and jewelry.
Buy clothes that fit well (i.e. tailored fit). Pick something that flatters what you love about yourself and select styles that help minimize areas you may not want to emphasize.
